Brine and Vine is a fermented foods company using natural fermentation to create food that is as good for your body as it is for your soul.  Focused on bringing the health benefits of lacto-fermented foods to Northern Michigan with a twist on ingredients and flavors.  Our products are fermented naturally using salt and time along with the naturally occurring probiotics to transform our vegetables into high quality flavorful Sauerkrauts and Kimchis.  

  • Rich in probiotics: Lactofermented sauerkraut is teeming with beneficial bacteria, thanks to the fermentation process. These probiotics promote a healthy gut microbiome and can improve digestion. Studies have shown the presence of diverse probiotic strains in fermented vegetables, including sauerkraut.

 Who We Are

Matt and Dan have a combined nearly 40 years of Research and Development experience in the food industry working with major CPG companies.  Around 2020 as more research came out on the health benefits of probiotic rich fermented foods they decided to start making them as a hobby for their families (each has 3 kids and a wife).  During this time Sauerkraut and Kimchi started to be put on everything made in both houses to test flavors and combinations.  After a couple years of recipe development and waiting for Matt to finish his MBA at the University of Illinois, the two decided to start Brine and Vine in the summer of 2023 focusing on Sauerkrauts and Kimchi.  When not working in the food industry both families take full advantage of life in Traverse City, Michigan frequently boating, going to the beach, hiking and skiing.
